The Blue Frog Café and Marketplace is a dynamic and innovative project that empowers youth to reach their full potential by helping them develop the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to get jobs and positively contribute to their community. The Blue Frog is a relaxed and welcoming youth volunteer led café that is open to everyone. It offers a fresh and affordable menu featuring local foods, a free internet café and a marketplace. Youth volunteers gain “real world” work experience and are involved in all aspects of running the café including marketing, menu development, organizing special events and training new volunteers. Youth also have the opportunity to enhance their skills in team work, problem solving, decision making, and leadership. The Marketplace offers the unique opportunity for enterprising youth to gain valuable start-up skills by providing free retail space to market and sell their products. The Blue Frog also provides young people in our community a safe and inclusive space to socialize, express their talents and creativity, get involved with local youth events and actively contribute to their community. Jam Night is always “hopping” with local youth bands and performers showcasing their amazing talents and FrogFest, a youth-driven arts festival, celebrates young artists in our community. With the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, The Blue Frog will provide a vibrant youth space that will serve to exemplify what great things young people can accomplish when given the opportunity!
