What are the Great Grants Awards?
Every two years the Ontario Trillium Foundation gives out the Great Grants Awards to recognize outstanding projects and initiatives that have
received OTF funding over a four-year period. Award recipients exemplify excellence, innovation and leadership in building healthy communities
across the province. We showcase eight organizations which our volunteers and staff think are truly extraordinary in terms of impact, innovation
or collaboration.
Why should I vote for the People’s Choice Award?
Vote because you, too, recognize the great impact your organization is having on youth in your community.
Vote because you want the people in your local organization, and the youth they serve, to get something good: The organization with the
most votes (by midnight, February 29) will receive a valuable voucher for pre-paid consulting services or community college courses,
courtesy of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, that will help your organization and staff build capacity and become more effective.
How often can I vote?
Anyone can vote. Voters can ONLY vote on the People’s Choice Award website. Voters can vote five times per hour between February 13 and 29 inclusive.
How can I get others to vote for my favourite, hardworking, deserving youth group nominee?
Use your social networks, email your friends and family. Ask them to vote - and vote often - for your favourite!
What do the nominees receive if they get the most votes?
The nominee with the most votes at voting closure will gain pre-paid access to brand-name consulting expertise
tailored to the organization’s needs. Deloitte is one of Canada's leading professional services firms, providing audit, tax,
consulting, and financial advisory services through more than 8,000 people in 56 offices. The recipient will be announced along with
other awards at a gala Great Grants Awards luncheon in Toronto on March 23, 2012.
How were the People’s Choice Award nominees selected?
OTF volunteers took a break from reviewing and analyzing grant applications to nominate 18 youth organizations they thought were having
tremendous impact in local communities. Online voting will ultimately decide which of these youth organizations is creating the biggest
impact, initiating the greatest change or proving most innovative in serving Ontario youth.
